Immersed in Verse

Immersed in Verse has been receiving great reviews. It was chosen to be in Librarians' Choices 2006 (which can be found on amazon.com) and in Best Books of 2006 by the School Library Journal (http://www.schoollibraryjournal.com/article/CA6395088.html). I had a lot of fun illustrating this book and am so glad it's doing so well. Allan Wolf, the author really did do a tremendous job. He's made me want to delve in to poetry again!

Pump up the Volume

I love these long voluminous looks that hit the Spring 2007 runway. Now I just have to find some glamorous place to wear something like this. This first one is just to die for. I'd love to try to recreate this look.

Supperware for Atticus

How much do I love this place setting for Atticus?! I'd love to get it for his birthday. It's from London so I'm not sure I'm willing to pay the shipping fees. I'd love to find a reseller in the states though! These are so cute!

caught in the act

A naughty little boy of mine has learned that what's behind him in the shopping cart is more interesting than whatever else he might be facing while sitting down in his seat. Time to make sure those buckles are fastened tight! (note that I had him buckled but that wasn't enough to keep him put! Oh and this was when we went to California to see Aunt Marveen. That's Carianne in the background.)

what my little heart desires...

is this beautiful Alice Temperley dress...I found it on sale at net-a-porter but alas, even on sale it is far out of my budget...It looks to be nearly MF (Merrilee Friendly, or Mormon friendly works too). Someday perhaps...it's a winter dress anyway, and spring is here. It would go so great with my vogs though, don't you think?

Vogs on CTV

I found these pics of my vogs with John Fluevog on Canada AM tv. I'm flattered he chose my design to be one of them shown on the segment (and even more flattered he chose my design for Open Source Footwear!)

My shoes were also supposed to be on a Good Morning America segment but they never got to it (they were on stage in the back but they ran out of time).

OK Magazine

I found my vogs in OK Magazine (pink cappucino version). Very fun! I too have noticed this menswear on heals trend. It's great for my shoes and I love to see the fabulous different ways to wear them. I want all of these shoes!

Fluevog press in NYT

So I did some searching and I found out that the New York Times (online) covered the opensource Fluevog competition back in June of 2006. In it they mention my Hi Merrilee shoe in it. Very fun! Here is a link to the article:

For those of you in UT, the Daily Herald covered the article back in 06 as well:

I also just noticed that they are on sale on the Fluevog site so anyone wanting to snatch them up, now's your chance!:

If any of you find or see any more press on the shoe, let me know. Thanks!

Ottobre Design magazine

Oh the Scandinavians...How do I love them? Can we say IKEA, fabulous textiles, great modern design and now I find out about Ottobre magazine! I am always on the look out for great and innovative children's clothing - particularly boys wear for Atticus - but I can't seem to find a lot here in middle American that stands apart from the crowd. I always think, "I should just sew my own". Well my sister D-lyn called my attention to this great magazine with fabulous clothing for kids complete with sewing patterns! You can find the magazine for sale at http://www.sewzannesfabrics.com/ottobre.html# . How great is that? Now I just have to hone my skills with my Baby Lock machine and I'll be roaring to go!

Seonna Hong at the Knoxville Museum of Art

As a temporary transplant from New York City, I didn't expect much of the Knoxville Tennesse art scene. That is why it took a while for Jon and I to go to KMA (Knoxville Museum of Art). Tonight I went for the first time and was pleasantly surprised to see a Seonna Hong exhibit there! (www.seonnahong.com) It was absolutely beautiful and inspiring. Her paintings in person are impeccable. The reproductions just do not do her work justice. Her line work and solid textures are scrumptious to see up close and I love how she creatively uses woodgrain in her work. I'd love to own one of her works someday! Above are some of my favorites from the show.

brocade

I just found out about this fabulous company called brocade and now get their catalog. The style is quintessentially me. I've been trying to describe to a lot of people what I like, using phrases such as neo-victorian, modern-baroque, eclectic shabby chic, but without the cutsy, etc. These pic's however just about nail it right on the head. A blend of ornate with a clean eclectic modern feel. I also love white and pattern. I'm constantly torn between going all white with a bit of chipped paint or with going for bold color and pattern. I think this look would alow me to do both. It also has just that touch of glam that I also really like.

Atticus in the grass

I went to California over the weekend to see my Aunt Marveen who has unfortunately been diagnosed with terminal cancer. It was a somber weekend yet I was very glad for the opportunity to go. While there, in the blazing heat (way too hot for early March if you ask me), Atticus got his first real go in the grass. He has been around grass a lot but when he was old enough to crawl it was either too cold outside or there was snow on the ground or both. Anyway, he loved it after the initial prickly shock. I think he's so cute here exploring the ground and tasting the leaves :).

Sketch of the Day

I want to go to final on this for a series I want to do on prairie girls (sort of homage to pioneer girls). If only I can find time to do it :).

Great duds for Jon

I love these looks for Jon. The first one would definitely make my heart go pitter-pat. The second is a great formal look. So classy yet so indie (in otherwards, so Jon). Both of the top are Marc by Marc Jacobs. The bottom two are DKNY. And wait a second...Isn't that Jon walking down the catwalk on the lower right? When did he skip acting and jump to male modeling?

Oh sweet Temperley...

Alice Templerey is also one of my favorite designers. I've a passion for textile design and pattern and she's always been so fabulous at it. She, like Sui, often has a gypsie feel to her work. This spring isn't so much that way but I still love it. I really love how these top two dresses flow (and I love the the head scarf too! I need to go somewhere exotic to wear these :) ). I also really like the preppy suspender look she has going on below. I would feel like a some rich British girl going to Africa in these. I want to try to recreate the lower left one for this summer.

I realy want to recreate this top left look. It's stunning and so ME. Sleek and elegant uptop but with a touch of carefree pattern down below. LOVE IT. Someday I will own a Temperley...some day...

Love me some of that Anna Sui

These are some of my fav's from the Anna Sui spring 2007 collection. She's always been one of my fav's. She captures that boho/rock star look I love so much. I really love the styling and layering going on in the top right pic. I especially love the cropped socks she puts under her platform sandles. I'm so going to do that this spring/summer (it will also help with the perspiration problems I always have in sandles ;)). Of course I'm always a sucker for ripped nylon leggings.
