Favorite Shape of the Season

I love this new spring shape. After looking at all the spring collections, this oversize shape stuck with me. I love it and I want this Bottega Veneta blouse! (top pic). Of course it's way out of my budget so I want to see if I can't sew something similar. D-lyn, any ideas? The entire Bottega Veneta collection was just beautiful. I love the fabrics used. The bags and necklaces are great as well.

I Heart Chloe

I absolutely adore the look of Chloe's spring line. The colors and shapes are amazing. The vintage feel is right up my alley. I can't say anything more other than the spring line is perfect (in my humble opinion). Now if only the hemlines were more MF...

bam pop

I think I've found my favorite scrapbooking line. Bam Pop! There stuff is so fun and fresh. I was alerted to it from the print and pattern blog, www.printpatternblogspot.com, and couldn't say it more perfectly than she:

"now here's a really fresh approach to scrapbooking from utah based designers bam pop! . jj & jen harrison produce papers & stamps in a really cute & fun style of illustration. what more can i say - robots parachuting through the sky and the best frames & speech bubbles ive ever seen. absolutely charming."

I had to snatch some up. Any of you in UT let me know if you see it around as I might have you pick some up for me. I want their alphabet stamps but it appears they are sold out online. Their website is bampop.com. I might just have to start scrapbooking now!

You're Invited...

...to Atticus Liddiard's birthday party! Ok so most of you are living far away so this will be a virtual invite for a virtual party (meaning I'll post pics of the festivities afterwards). Wish you all could be there to celebrate our little boy's 1st year of life! We know you will be with us in spirit!

Day Dream Nation

Ok but how cool is this! It's my dream synthesis of theatre and fashion. Day Dream Nation, www.daydream-nation.co.uk, is an English clothing label that had a fabulous catwalk presentation over at London fashion week. I got this info from their site:

When Theatre meets Fashion.

Daydream Nation debuts with a performative catwalk, Back Down the Rabbit Hole, as part of the off-schedule London Fashion Week AW07. 'Back Down the Rabbit Hole' is about maturing into childhood.
It explores the tension between reality and fantasy as we try to outgrow adulthood and return to our wonderlands.

Love it. The design of their web site is fantastic as well. I definitely want to do something like this with Jon someday!

Immersed in Verse

Immersed in Verse has been receiving great reviews. It was chosen to be in Librarians' Choices 2006 (which can be found on amazon.com) and in Best Books of 2006 by the School Library Journal (http://www.schoollibraryjournal.com/article/CA6395088.html). I had a lot of fun illustrating this book and am so glad it's doing so well. Allan Wolf, the author really did do a tremendous job. He's made me want to delve in to poetry again!

Pump up the Volume

I love these long voluminous looks that hit the Spring 2007 runway. Now I just have to find some glamorous place to wear something like this. This first one is just to die for. I'd love to try to recreate this look.

Supperware for Atticus

How much do I love this place setting for Atticus?! I'd love to get it for his birthday. It's from London so I'm not sure I'm willing to pay the shipping fees. I'd love to find a reseller in the states though! These are so cute!

caught in the act

A naughty little boy of mine has learned that what's behind him in the shopping cart is more interesting than whatever else he might be facing while sitting down in his seat. Time to make sure those buckles are fastened tight! (note that I had him buckled but that wasn't enough to keep him put! Oh and this was when we went to California to see Aunt Marveen. That's Carianne in the background.)

what my little heart desires...

is this beautiful Alice Temperley dress...I found it on sale at net-a-porter but alas, even on sale it is far out of my budget...It looks to be nearly MF (Merrilee Friendly, or Mormon friendly works too). Someday perhaps...it's a winter dress anyway, and spring is here. It would go so great with my vogs though, don't you think?

Vogs on CTV

I found these pics of my vogs with John Fluevog on Canada AM tv. I'm flattered he chose my design to be one of them shown on the segment (and even more flattered he chose my design for Open Source Footwear!)

My shoes were also supposed to be on a Good Morning America segment but they never got to it (they were on stage in the back but they ran out of time).

OK Magazine

I found my vogs in OK Magazine (pink cappucino version). Very fun! I too have noticed this menswear on heals trend. It's great for my shoes and I love to see the fabulous different ways to wear them. I want all of these shoes!

Fluevog press in NYT

So I did some searching and I found out that the New York Times (online) covered the opensource Fluevog competition back in June of 2006. In it they mention my Hi Merrilee shoe in it. Very fun! Here is a link to the article:

http://www.nytimes.com/2006/06/18/business/yourmoney/18mgmt.html?ex=1308283200&en=866d5e2ff61f1a90&ei=5090&partner=rssuserland&emc=rss

For those of you in UT, the Daily Herald covered the article back in 06 as well:

http://exploreprovo.com/provo-ut-blog/?p=351

I also just noticed that they are on sale on the Fluevog site so anyone wanting to snatch them up, now's your chance!:

If any of you find or see any more press on the shoe, let me know. Thanks!

Ottobre Design magazine

Oh the Scandinavians...How do I love them? Can we say IKEA, fabulous textiles, great modern design and now I find out about Ottobre magazine! I am always on the look out for great and innovative children's clothing - particularly boys wear for Atticus - but I can't seem to find a lot here in middle American that stands apart from the crowd. I always think, "I should just sew my own". Well my sister D-lyn called my attention to this great magazine with fabulous clothing for kids complete with sewing patterns! You can find the magazine for sale at http://www.sewzannesfabrics.com/ottobre.html# . How great is that? Now I just have to hone my skills with my Baby Lock machine and I'll be roaring to go!
